I couldn’t be happier than to spend a day in the studio designing and sewing. My Bernina came back from the hospital, so I was able to sew on the borders to my newest project, my Bow Tie quilt. (Yes, I DO use a machine sometimes.)
When Jo Morton visited in the fall, she asked about doing a small bow tie block. This block finishes to 2 1/2″, so it is small, but so very easy to make. This is the TRADITIONAL bow tie block with 2 pieces, the center square and the outside piece. (No X seams here!)
I used charm squares from the charm square exchange I had at my seminars in past sessions. What a cute reminder of my friends. (And YES, these ARE the same fabrics I used for my new little house stamp. I stamped out the bow ties at the same time.)
You can’t see by the picture the top of the quilt the dimension the ties are giving. I did this by pressing the seams into the dark, so the “ties” literally stand up on the quilt. I love the setting I used. Can’t you see it being used as border?
I do plan on doing some hand quilting in the large squares and the borders. I used a light value that will really show the quilting. I’ll post a picture of the quilting when I finish.
The new stamp is in my shop. You can find it here!
